Bringing the Purity of Kusha Back to Every Home

A Tradition Rooted in Kashi

Shyama Kusha began in 2007, in Nagesara, a village in Kashi.

A Guru Ji once visited our village for a pooja, and we prepared a Kusha Aasan for him using Kusha grass from our own land. He encouraged us to make it for others who were seeking a traditional Aasan for their pooja and sadhana.

That simple moment stayed with us.

For generations, Kusha has been a part of Indian spiritual practices — used for japa, meditation, puja, and sadhana. To us, it was never just grass. It was a part of our land, our traditions, and our way of life.

Made With Patience, Kept With Purpose

We continue to work with pure Kusha grass and natural wool, following traditional craftsmanship.

Each Aasan is handwoven, handstitched, and carefully finished by skilled artisans. The process takes time because we believe something connected to a sacred practice should never be made without care.

Our aim is simple: to preserve the essence of a tradition without losing its soul.

From Nagesara to Your Sadhana

In 2020, Shishir Sharma brought this tradition online, allowing the Aasan to reach homes far beyond Kashi.

People began using it for their daily meditation, japa, puja, and spiritual practice.

And that reminded us of something important:

An Aasan is not simply something you sit on.

It is the space where you pause.

Where the outside world becomes quiet.

Where you turn inward.

Where your sadhana begins.

Today, Shyama Kusha continues to carry the spirit of Nagesara, Kashi, traditional craftsmanship, and generations of knowledge into the lives of those who choose to keep this practice alive.
